Dr. Suharto is currently an Adjunct Professor at Raja Zarith Sofiah (RSZ) Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science and Civilization (CASIS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He used to bean academician at various international universities. In the year2000, Dr. Suharto received his PhD (Islamic Civilization, majoringin Islamic Economics) from the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) and obtained both his Master of Economics (M.Ec) in 1993 and Bachelor of Economics (B.Ec) in 1990, from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He had been an academician in Malaysia for 12 years. First, he served as a Research Fellow and Assistant Professor at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) from 1996 to 2003 and then as Assistant Professor at Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 2003 to 2008. After being in Malaysia, he used to be teaching at the University College of Bahrain (UCB) as an Associate Professor for 2 years, and at the Centre for Academic and Executive Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) for additional 2 years, and at Ahlia University, Bahrain for almost another 4 years. In between, Dr. Suharto was also with the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, United Kingdom, from 2010 to 2011. He just retired as an Associate Professor at the University of Buraimi, Sultanate of Oman. Dr. Suharto has written many articles in international journals and a few books related to his field. His books include (i) Islamic Public Finance: Kitab al-Amwal: Abu ‘Ubayd’s Concept of Public Finance (Kuala Lumpur: ISTAC-IIUM, 2005); (ii) Pemikiran Islam Liberal: Pembahasan Isu-Isu Sentral, (Shah Alam: Dewan Pustaka Fajar, 2007), Malaysia; and (iii) Nafi, Isbat dan Kalam – Bunga Rampai Postulat Pemikiran Islam, (Pimpin dan Bentala, 2022), Indonesia.
