PKM: Santripreneur Academy: Incubation of Santri Sociopreneurs Based on Islamic Philanthropy | Tim: M. Luthfi Hamidi, Haryani Santo Hartono, Abdul Karim Amin, Ananta Hagabean

Pesantren have long been centers of moral education, discipline, and community life. Today, they are also increasingly seen as spaces where entrepreneurship and social innovation can grow. UIII’s Santripreneur Academy project built on this potential by encouraging santri to become sociopreneurs grounded in Islamic philanthropy.

The Faculty of Economics and Business team approached santri not only as learners of religious knowledge, but also as future community actors. Sociopreneurship is important because it combines business initiative with social problem-solving. When connected to Islamic philanthropy, it can help young people think about profit, service, zakat, waqf, and community welfare in an integrated way.

The program likely introduced participants to idea development, business models, social impact, and the values that should guide Muslim entrepreneurship. For santri, such training can expand the meaning of religious education. It shows that ethical business and community service can become part of religious responsibility.

For UIII, the activity demonstrates how Islamic economics can be translated into youth empowerment. It also reflects the university’s ability to connect academic expertise with pesantren as one of Indonesia’s most important educational institutions.

A feature story can highlight the transformation of santri from students into potential changemakers. It should include the pesantren context, training process, business ideas, and follow-up incubation plan. The editorial message is that pesantren-based entrepreneurship can strengthen both livelihoods and social solidarity when it is guided by knowledge, ethics, and a commitment to public benefit.
