Depok, Indonesia – The Ecobiz Student Association (ESA) of Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) proudly hosted its 2nd session of the Research Community series on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Lecture Hall, Faculty B. The event featured a captivating presentation by Abdul Aziz Yahya Saoqi, a distinguished PhD student and Division Head at BAZNAS (The National Amil Zakat Agency).

With the topic “What Do We Know About the National Zakat Index by BAZNAS?”, the session delved into the framework, methodology, and implications of the National Zakat Index (NZI) as a strategic tool for enhancing the performance, transparency, and impact of zakat management across Indonesia. Attendees, including students, academics, and researchers, gained valuable insights into how NZI contributes to national socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, and the realization of sustainable development goals through faith-based finance.

The session sparked an engaging Q&A segment, where participants explored critical issues regarding zakat governance, regional disparities in implementation, and the role of empirical data in improving zakat institutions.

ESA UIII is committed to fostering a vibrant academic environment through initiatives like the Research Community series, which aims to connect students with real-world applications of economic and financial knowledge rooted in Islamic values.

The event was open to the public and marked another successful milestone in ESA’s mission to cultivate research culture and knowledge exchange within the UIII community.
